on display

I’m going to have a couple pieces in the POST THIS! rock poster show at Space 242 opening on December 11th. The openings are always fun (thank you Harpoon) but remember to RSVP on the website and show up early because they kick everybody out at 8PM!

“Welcome to the Human Race”, my series of wood type monoprints is currently on display at the Sherman Cafe in Union Square, Somerville. Stop by for a coffee and check out their new all-local market around the corner!

For those in the Boston area, The Fringe Movement will be hosting our first open house tonight from 5-10pm. Come on down to check out some work and enjoy some refreshments.

The New Yorker gets in on the letterpress party with a quick piece titled “The Organic Art of Letterpress”, and a link to this video featuring former Somerville printer John Kristensen of Firefly Press.

moving!

As you may have noticed from the front page of repeatpress.com, there’s a studio move coming up soon. I’m very excited to announce that Repeat Press will be moving to Union Sq, Somerville as a part of a new design-oriented collective space called The Fringe Movement. My hope for the new space is to continue expanding on custom printing with an emphasis on unique projects and quality design. I’ll be updating progress on the move and buildout of the new space as it happens, so stay tuned.

Big news for today and the first large item moved into the space was a new (to me) set of flat files that I scored for free! Off to a good start.

chris piascik at chorus gallery

I have no idea how to pronounce Chris Piascik’s last name, but I do have a sweet gocco print of his that I picked up at Grand a while back. His upcoming show at Chorus looks like it will include a series of larger paintings that as well as the smaller prints that many people are familiar with.

The show opens this Saturday, June 13th, with a reception from 8-11pm. The past two openings have been a blast so be sure to check it out.

four flights at chorus gallery

About a month ago, I was talking with Zack from Union Square’s newest bike shop/creative spaceOpen Bicycle, and he casually asked if I’d like to curate a group show in their gallery space, Chorus. The only catch was that the show would be scheduled to open about three weeks from that point, not much time to put together and promote a show. Still, I jumped at the chance and managed to assemble a show featuring fantastic work by Joe Keinberger, Fionn McCabe, Arthur Henderson, and Brian Hart.

All four of these guys live in the Boston area and continually impress me with their quality of work and dedication to their art. Several of them are involved in the Oh Nancy project, an ever-growing collaborative mythology based around a girl, a football team, sea creatures…you should probably check the site for yourself.

The opening on May 16th was a blast, and the show runs through June 10th.

If you haven’t paid a visit to the shop yet, you’re in for a treat. The layout and merchandising of the store are excellent, and the product focuses on top-quality, handmade frames and accessories from around the globe.

Open Bicycle and Chorus Gallery are located just outside Union Squre at the corner of Washington St and Hawkins St in Somerville, MA.
